Polytechnic Piksi Ganesha – May 08, 2025

In support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, Politeknik Piksi Ganesha, through the Information Systems Management Study Program and the Information Systems Management Student Association (HIMMSI), has established a strategic collaboration with the Kelurahan Cibeunying Government, located in Cimenyan Sub-district, Bandung Regency.

This initiative is part of the institution’s Community Service Program (PkM), which is one of the three pillars of higher education in Indonesia (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi). Through this partnership, Politeknik Piksi Ganesha seeks to apply academic knowledge and technological expertise to help local communities address current digital challenges, while strengthening multi-sectoral collaboration between academia and local government.

The community engagement program carries the theme:
“Enhancing Community Capacity through Digital Literacy and Information Technology Utilization.” It includes several initiatives such as: Training local government staff in the use of basic information systems, Educating residents on digital safety and cybersecurity, Introducing technology solutions to support local micro and small enterprises (UMKM), Developing a community-based data management model. According to the Head of the Information Systems Management Study Program, Ms.Rini Suwartika, this initiative is not only a form of academic responsibility but also a sustainable strategy to build long-term partnerships that support community growth. “We believe that sustainable development cannot be achieved alone. It requires collaboration. Our presence here is to support the local government in building a digitally literate and resilient community,” said [Rini Suwartika].

The Head of Cibeunying sub-district Mr. Ojat kurnia, S.E, expressed appreciation for the active involvement of the students and lecturers in addressing local needs.

“We are open to any collaborative effort that brings real benefits to our residents. The involvement of Politeknik Piksi Ganesha is a great example of how higher education institutions can contribute directly to local development,” they said.

This initiative is a clear demonstration of how SDG 17 can be realized through effective, inclusive, and impactful partnerships. It strengthens the role of higher education in supporting local development, while opening the door to further collaboration including the digitalization of public services, data management systems, and technology support for youth and local businesses.

For the students, this program provides valuable real-world experience, strengthens soft skills, and nurtures social awareness — all of which are crucial for future professionals in the field of Information Technology.
