LANTERA : Layanan kesehatAN unTuk mEReka di jAalanan (Health Services for People on the Streets) – “One Check, A Thousand Hopes”
02th Sept 2025, Bandung

“LANTERA: Layanan kesehatAN unTuk mEReka di jAlanan ” is one of the work programs of the TLM (Medical Laboratory Technology), Student Association which refers to community involvement. The activity is based on the theme “one check, a thousand hopes”, as a depiction of the great hope of one action for those in need, especially people on the streets, such as street children, buskers, scavengers and so on. This activity was held on Saturday, June 02, 2025 from 09:00 AM to 1:00 PM with the implementation location around public locations around Jalan Maleer – Jalan Gatot Subroto. These locations include red lights/intersections, sidewalks, markets, stations and other public places.
During the examination, the HIMA members were divided into three groups, each with slightly different tests. Overall, blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol levels were found to be normal. The community was very enthusiastic about the health checks provided. However, due to poor weather conditions, including heavy rain, the screenings were short-lived due to difficulty finding people to be tested.
This program strongly aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
- SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being → Promoting access to essential health services for marginalized groups.
- SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities → Addressing disparities by providing healthcare to vulnerable street communities often left behind.
- SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities → Encouraging inclusivity in urban environments by improving public health outreach in open and underserved areas.
