Improving the Competence of Health Workers through UKOM Try Out Consolidation
Bandung, June 23–25, 2025

The National Competency Test (UKOM) is one of the main requirements for ensuring the quality of health care graduates, including graduates of the D3 Medical Records and Health Information (RMIK) Study Program. The UKOM aims to assess the national competency levels of graduates and ensure they possess the knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes aligned with the standards set by the Medical Records and Health Information Professionals College (Kolegium PMIK). To prepare students for the UKOM in the best possible way, the D3 RMIK Program at Politeknik Piksi Ganesha is organizing a UKOM Practice Test (TO) Consolidation Activity from June 23–25, 2025, attended by 250 final-year students. This activity is designed to assess students’ readiness for UKOM materials, familiarize them with case-based questions (vignettes), and provide feedback on their mastery of core competencies being tested, such as clinical classification skills, disease coding, health information technology, health facility statistics, health information quality management, professional ethics and health law, medical record management, and medical record unit management.
The consolidation of TO UKOM has become an integral part of the program’s strategy to improve UKOM graduation rates and the quality of graduates. Using a case-based approach that follows the latest blueprint from the PMIK College, students are trained to enhance their analytical, synthesis, and application skills in a precise manner. More than just exam preparation, this activity is closely linked to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). The connection to SDG 3 is reflected in efforts to produce competent healthcare professionals capable of supporting the quality of healthcare services through accurate management of medical data and information. The connection with SDG 4 is evident in the program’s commitment to providing high-quality higher education that is relevant to industry needs, accompanied by measurable evaluations for continuous improvement. Meanwhile, the contribution to SDG 8 is realized through increased opportunities for decent work for graduates equipped with nationally recognized competency certifications.

Thus, TO UKOM consolidation is not only an academic strategy to ensure student graduation, but also part of Politeknik Piksi Ganesha’s real contribution in supporting the achievement of sustainable development in the fields of health, education, and employment. Through this activity, it is hoped that graduates will not only be technically ready to face UKOM, but also able to compete and make positive contributions in the world of work, both at the national and global levels.
