Politeknik Piksi Ganesha Assists Earthquake Victims in Cianjur
November 21, 2022
Bandung, Indonesia – Politeknik Piksi Ganesha recently extended its support to the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck Cianjur, West Java, in November 2022. As part of its commitment to community service and social responsibility, the institution mobilized resources and efforts to aid those affected by the disaster. That aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 13) – Climate Change.
In response to the disaster, Politeknik Piksi Ganesha launched a relief initiative aimed at providing both immediate aid and long-term support for the affected population. The institution organized a donation drive within its campus, encouraging students, staff, and faculty to contribute essentials such as food, water, clothing, and medical supplies. These donations were then delivered directly to the affected areas in Cianjur.
In addition to the donation drive, Politeknik Piksi Ganesha sent a team of volunteers to assist with the distribution of aid and help in the cleanup and rebuilding efforts. The volunteers included students from various programs, who were trained to assist in disaster management and relief operations. Their tasks involved distributing relief packages, setting up temporary shelters, and providing basic medical care to those in need.
The director of Politeknik Piksi Ganesha, Assoc. Prof. Dr. H. K. Prihartono AH, emphasized the importance of community involvement during times of crisis. “In times of hardship, it is essential that we come together to help those in need,” he said. “Politeknik Piksi Ganesha has always believed in the value of solidarity and social responsibility, and we are proud of our students and staff for stepping up to support the Cianjur community during this difficult time.”
Looking ahead, the institution is planning to provide further support for the rebuilding of Cianjur, with a focus on sustainable development and infrastructure restoration. Politeknik Piksi Ganesha is exploring the possibility of engaging students in these efforts through hands-on projects, combining education with practical experience in disaster management and reconstruction. In the coming months, Politeknik Piksi Ganesha plans to continue its efforts to assist Cianjur’s recovery, reaffirming its dedication to building stronger, more resilient communities in Indonesia.
