June, 2023 —Jakarta

The Politeknik’s mangrove planting movement is part of a broader national push to address environmental degradation and climate change in Indonesia. The Indonesian government has set ambitious goals to restore damaged ecosystems, with mangrove restoration being a key focus. According to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the country has pledged to restore 600,000 hectares of mangrove forests by 2040. That aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG 14) – Life Below Water.

The Director of Polytechnic Piksi Ganesha Assoc. Prof. Dr. H. K. Prihartono A. H., Drs., S.Sos., S.Kom., M.M., MOS., CMA., MPM stated that the environmental benefits, the program also aims to empower local communities by providing education on sustainable practices and creating opportunities for them to take part in conservation efforts. Local residents are actively involved in the planting and care of the mangroves, ensuring the long-term success of the project.

By combining academic expertise, community engagement, and environmental action, Polytechnic Piksi Ganesha is not only contributing to the restoration of Indonesia’s mangrove forests but also fostering a generation of environmentally conscious leaders ready to tackle the challenges of tomorrow.
