Politeknik Piksi Ganesha Empowers Local Community with Stunting Prevention Workshop
Desember 17, 2024 – Bandung
Politeknik Piksi Ganesha (PPG), recently held a Stunting Prevention Workshop for POSYANDU Cadres in Maleer Village, Batununggal District, Bandung. This impactful initiative underscores PPG’s commitment to providing practical, industry-oriented education and empowering local communities.
Stunting, a condition where a child’s growth and development are impaired due to poor nutrition, is a significant public health concern in Indonesia. To address this issue, PPG’s School of Health Sciences organized the workshop to educate POSYANDU (Integrated Service Post) cadres, who play a crucial role in delivering essential healthcare services to communities.
“At Politeknik Piksi Ganesha, we believe in the power of education to drive positive change,” said [Prihartono], the Director of PPG. “By equipping POSYANDU cadres with the knowledge and tools to prevent stunting, we are not only improving the health of children in Maleer Village, but also empowering the local community to take ownership of their well-being.”
The workshop covered a range of topics, including the causes and consequences of stunting, the importance of proper nutrition and healthcare during the first 1,000 days of a child’s life, and effective strategies for early detection and intervention. Participants also received hands-on training on measuring and monitoring child growth, as well as practical guidance on conducting outreach and education activities in their communities.
“The Stunting Prevention Workshop was an invaluable experience for us,” said [Stevanie], a POSYANDU cadre in Maleer Village. “We now have a deeper understanding of the issue and feel better equipped to support the families in our community. This collaboration with Politeknik Piksi Ganesha has truly made a difference in our efforts to combat stunting.”
As a vocational higher education institution, PPG is committed to bridging the gap between academia and industry, ensuring that its graduates are well-prepared to address the real-world challenges faced by communities. The Stunting Prevention Workshop is a testament to this approach, demonstrating how PPG’s expertise and resources can be leveraged to create positive social impact.
